Blog #3

1) If I were to create a lesson plan, I would incorporate something fun and educational at the same time. I would choose 2nd grade and the subject matter would be Earth Science. The technology I would use to create my lesson plan would be Inspiration. I would create a flow chart of the Rain cycle and Evaporation processes of the Earth. I would include pictures on the chart that my students could color. This would be very visual so my students could see the pictures and follow the arrows that connect each cycle together. This would be a visual project that would allow my students to understand and follow the cycles more easily.
2)I would critique www.wikipedia.com
3)I am not going to be a teacher but If I were I wouldn't have an issue with copyright. I would be teaching 1st or 2nd grade If I were to teach any age group. This group doesn't have to do research or papers. If they used the computer It would be for games or Paint. The technology I would incorporate would be television(movies), audio and headphones(story), and the computer for games or small activities. Students could use other sources to create their own works but, this would probably entail them to be at a higher grade level.

1) I have used technology alot throughout my educational experiences. I have used Word to write papers and save information from the internet. I could copy-paste information from the internet and print it off of word. That way I wouldn't have to print an entire article offline. I have also used Paint to create pictures and make greeting cards. LoL I have also used the internet for research and email. In college I started using Blackboard for my major and courses. I also used the computer to download music and play dvds.
2) I hope to learn more about the different functions that Word and Excel have to offer. I only know the basic functions for basic assignments for class. If I can navigate these features, then I can do more in my future using the computer! Even though I am not going to be a teacher, it is always useful to know and understand technology. No matter where you go, technology is used everywhere. Most jobs require you to understand the computer.
3) I didn't learn anything new about my learning style. I know that I have always been a "Visual" learner! I can read something but I will have to write it down and see the information. After I write the information. I can scan it and remember and understand what I am reading. I also learn by viewing things on the projector. I can hear something but, if I am shown the material I can understand it. My brain makes a connection with the material presented and the content I hear!!!!

1)I have used Ms Word a lot for many of my classes. I have been in school for a long time and every year I use Ms Word for certain projects, presentations, or papers. My teachers have used Ms Word for many purposes in the classroom. My teachers have created quizzes and tests to pass out to the students. My teachers have also created handouts and flyers. I know that my teachers have also typed up parent/teacher letters and newsletters to go home with their students. Im sure my teachers have used Ms Word more but those are just a few of the tasks that I remember.
2/3)I do not plan on being a teacher so I can not tell you what I would use in the classroom. Although, many of the features we have learned are important for me to know. Now I can utilize Ms Word more efficiently. I had always used Ms Word for simple tasks and I did not know everything It had to offer. Over the years Ms Word has expanded and provided many more tools for completing tasks. Im glad I learned how to create templates and flyers. This is a function that everyone should be familiar with. Also, Mail Merge is a great program to know about. Im sure I can use this function in my career. Im glad that I have learned how to navigate Ms Word. No matter what I do in my future Im sure I can apply the tools I have learned.

1.) I am very familiar with using Microsoft Word. I have had to use it throughout my schooling and education up until now. I am familiar with using Word to write papers for all of my classes. I use Word to save articles offline. I usually will just copy and paste an article to Word. Also, I have research papers that i will write and use Word. I will copy and paste parts of an article offline. Since, I usually don't need the entire article or journal, I can just copy the parts that I do need. I have also had to save images to word and print them to decorate posterboards. I have had projects that have required me to create poster boards. Lastly, I use Word to type up letters to my friends. This was actually a long time ago when I mailed my friends letters. Now, I just keep in touch through email. My teachers use MS Word to type up letters that they send home to us. Also, Teachers can create note pages to print out and pass out to the students. Also, most of the time Teachers create their tests using MS Word. MS Word can be used for multiple actions in the classroom.
2.) I can use MS Word for almost everything. I really like learning about the Mail Merge feature. Even though it seems complex and intimidating, it really is a good feature to use. This feature will allow me to send out the same letter to multiple people. This feature will allow me to save alot of time on the computer. I also learned how to create flyers. Kim stayed after class and showed me the feature that allows you to select Templates that are already stored into the computer. MS Word allowed me to choose a flyer that I needed to type up "Lost Dog" notices! This saved me time because what I needed typed up was already stored into the computer. Thank you KIM.
3)I believe that I can use Word alot in my future. I plan on working with multiple clients and I will need to make case notes. I will use Word to keep my case notes organized and filed. I can also use "mail merge" to address important Confidentaility request forms. This way I can send out the same form to multiple clients. I will not have to type the same letter a million times. I can just type the letter once and inclde my mailing recipients in the program to change the address and heading.
