1.) I liked to hear about how other students would use technology in their classrooms. I am not going to teach, but it was nice to hear about the importance of what we were learning in class. It was interesting to see the many creative ideas other students had in setting up technology in their classroom. It was interesting to see the different grade levels that the students would be teaching and what technology was appropriate for these age groups. I learned how beneficial the material we were learning in class was for future education. 2.) I would like to learn about creating websites. This is something that interests me and we did not have enough time to cover it this semester. I think this is a very important tool to learn and can be very useful. This would allow people to present things that are very important to them and allow people to respond. It is important to spread the word on issues that have a lot of meaning to you. What easier way to do this then posting on the internet? 3.)In the future I might look into other classes on computer and technology. There is so much to learn about technology that the material must divided up into different courses by related subjects. I could look into classes that would teach components addressed to specifically using the internet.
1)I don't really have much experience using twitter this semester. The only experience I have is creating an account the first day of class. I think that week I checked a couple of post regarding eme 2040. I didn't find twitter to be useful while I was in this course. If I was confused about something or had a question then I would just contact Ms. Kim via email. She would always respond back to me and we would arrange meeting times to discuss assignments I was unsure about. 2.) I don't think that I am going to use twitter in the future. I am always in touch with friends and family by email, phone, or meetings. I don't find this website to be beneficial to myself. I am also not going to be teaching, but If I were I would not include twitter in the classroom. I rather just have students come to me if they are having problems. I don't want the students to have to get clarification from the other students. This is because I don't know whether another student is giving the correct information. The other student may think he/she knows what she is talking about, but they really are unclear on the subject. Then they would be spreading false information and making matters worse. 3.) I don't think twitter is a good resource or educational tool. I think I explained why I feel this way in the above paragraph. Although, I could only see this website being beneficial to students if their professor was unavailable or hard to reach most of the times. I had no problem getting in touch with Ms. Kim this semester. Although, if she never responded back to my emails then I would want to use twitter to post questions and hope the students would respond back!!!
1) Once again I am not going to be a teacher. Although, If I was going to teach a certain grade level it would be first grade. If I were to use a web 2.0 tool, I think I would use Flickr with my students. This tool allows students to upload photos for projects and simply just for art. Flickr also gives you the option to highlight(or box in) a certain portion of the picture. Then you can comment or critique this sample of the picture. So, If there is something important I need to note then I can include my information around the selected portion of the picture. This would be an easy site for my students to use when analyzing important historical photographs. I am a visual learner and I like to incorporate a variety of art into my education. I would love to provide my students with this web 2.0 tool so they can enjoy photographs and learn at the same time. Like they say, "a photograph contains a 1,000 words." Here is the link to learn more about Flickr... http://www.solutionwatch.com/519/back-to-school-with-the-class-of-web-20-part-3/
2) I think web 2.0 can be useful in the k12 educational levels. It depends on what grade level you are targeting and how you incorporate the material. The instructor needs to make sure he/she is clear on directions when teaching the students how to utilize the functions of web 2.0! If a student understands how to navigate web 2.0, then this tool should be a fun and educational experience. Also, the teacher can use web 2.0 sites to include along with lectures. This will allow the teacher to have a variety of different teaching methods. This will also prevent a student from getting bored and distracted. The student can be involved in a fun and interactive way.
1) If I were to be a teacher I think I would incorporate digital learning for my students. I would be teaching young children like first grade or second. Digital programs are very fun and interactive for young children. Children also love listening to stories. Instead of me haveing to read to them all of the time, I can switch it up by letting them watch the stories on a digital database. This would be interesting for the students to watch stories online instead of just hearing me read them. This prograw would be very interactive for the kids and I can post short quizzes at the end of the stories to may sure they were being attentive and listening. I think this would incorporate fun and learning at the same time!!!! http://www.edline.com/online_classroom_management_school_homework.html?gclid=CMbVp4K88qACFQ2dnAodayzpGw 2)If I were to incorporate Excel into my teaching I most likely would use it when teaching many various subjects. Math is the subject that comes to mind first because of the equations we were taught the other day in class. Excel allows you to plug in equations to apply to a sample of problems and then it will initiate results for every different problem. This is very useful when you have multiple problems that you do not want to type in. All you have to do is type the equation and apply it to your problems as many times as you need to. You can also use Excel to create charts and graphs. I am a visual learner so I believe in using visual aides to assist in learning. I need to see something for me to connect the whole picture together. I can hear something verbally but, then I need something visual to reinfore what I just heard. I think having multiple ways to display the same thing will really project what you are trying to teach. Every student learns and processes information differently so one or more methods of teaching information is very resourceful to your students!!!
1.)I think I did a good job at creating a power point for the assignment. My power point was very educational and visually pleasing to the eye. Although, I could have worked on the linear part of my power point. I could have included more review questions for the students so there was more interaction going on. Although, I did follow all of the steps and included the major concepts that needed to be in the presentation. I should have allowed myself more time to complete the power point. 2.)I didn't read much on this section so I will answer as accordingly as possible. I would have my students create flow charts and hang them up an the wall. Or, I would just incorporate a lot of artwork to depict what subject I am teaching to my students. My students could create paintings or drawings that relates to math, history, science, English. etc. 4.) I am so glad that I learned how to navigate and utilize power point 2007. I really only knew the basics of setting up power point for past projects. I am glad Ms.Kim showed us how to use animation techniques and navigation buttons. This really allowed me to expand on my power point assignment. I will definitely use power point in my future for further class presentations or assignments. Maybe one day I can use power point in my future career!
1) There are some advantages and disadvantages to using presentation software in the K12 classroom. An adavantage would be for your students who are visual learners. Some students learn by linking images together in their head to formulate a flow or pattern. Sometimes you can not just verbally explain a process but, you must give images(pictures) and verbal explanations. A disadvantage could be that the presentation software can be seen as distracting. Instead of allowing the kids to read and do assignments on their own, your basically doing it for them. By displaying the information on a projector is allowing the students to skip out on reading the material for themselves. 2)If I were to use powerpoint for presentations I would incorporate interactive tools to involve my students throughout the learning process. I would set-up review questions at the end of the powerpoint for the students to answer. I would have links in the power point to different slides that have the right/wrong answers. Then I could reward the students with candy for picking the correct answers. This way the students are paying attention and learning new information I am presenting them with. 3.)I don't think twitter and facebook should be used in the classroom. These websites are a major distraction for students. They can chat with their friends about things that aren't related to education or assignments you have posted. They should use other tools such as WIKI to interact with other classmates on an assignment.
1) I would not be using many web 2.0 resources with the young students I would be teaching. If I were to be teaching a higher grade level then maybe I could integrate these resources more. Although. I would be teaching 1st grade students. Let me mention again that I don't plan on being a teacher in my future. Im just speaking as if I were going to teach for the requirements of this assignment. 2) I wouldn't advise using WIKIpedia because my teachers haven't allowed me to use this in my past courses. I believe research should be strictly online databases for empirical references. These online journals are peer'reviewed articles that can support your research. The information in WIK pedia may not always be correct information. It may contain false information or bias. You wouldn't want to include this in your research. You can get points deducted for this in class. 3) I can use WIKI space in my future teaching career. Many times there are group projects and it is hard to meet with everyone out of class. If there are scheduling conflicts, you can callaborate ideas over the internet. WIKI is perfect for adding ideas together via the internet. Students can work together on there on time instead of having to meet up. This would be a more useful tool for high-school and college students.
1.) The Internet is very useful for student research. I believe it is very useful when the student has a huge research paper to prepare for and they don't know much about their topic. Although, you have to prepare the students to be aware of bias and websites that are not legitimate sources. The programs students should be using are the school library databases online. These databases provide peer reviewed journals and articles that are empirically based. These journals site all facts and have been reviewed and proven to do so. As far as other pages I believe students should just be aware of scanning the website and looking out for bias and false material. Students should be taught to critique a web-page, like Kim showed us in class. Then students can be more aware of the information they are collecting and how to site it. 2.) If I were to be a teacher It would be for younger students(1st-2nd grade). The web resources I would allow my students to use would be search engines such as google and yahoo. This would be to search for images(google) so the students could create poster boards and fun art projects. Also, they could use yahoo to search for material I ask of them. These search engines could get them familiar with using the Internet for later work in the future. At this age I believe this Is all I would ask of my students to be familiar with. 3.) Since I would be teaching young students, I would need to supervise them very carefully while they are on the Internet. I would need to have a "parental-control" or a locked setting in place so that inappropriate content doesn't pop up. I also will need to assist the students when using search engines. I will need to monitor their spelling to make sure they are getting the appropriate results they need for the topic they are searching for!
1) If I were going to be a teacher I would want my students to understand the Inspiration program. I am a visual learner so I think these flow charts are very useful. You can link the verbal messages to the flow chart and understand how the process works. I could show my students a flow chart and ask them to create their own version. This way they are looking and reading through my examples. Then they are applying the material in their own words. This process would give my students a chance to practice and retain the information they are reading. 2.) I would encourage my students to develop outline, idea map, and storyboarding skills. These are all great processes that allow the student to brainstorm and organize their information. Outlines create organization so students don't have loose information straying from the topic. Outlines are easy to create and fun to follow. This is a great tool that all students should be taught. Students need to learn organization early on. This will help them prepare better for papers and tests later on in their future. 3.) I really liked learning about the google and yahoo search windows. Its obvious that I have been using these tools for awhile but, it was nice to know some facts and short-cuts on how to use these tools. Kim taught us some short-cuts in class that I know I will continue to use and apply in the future. I like learning about searching for definitions on google so I won't use Encyclopedia anymore. I also learned how to narrow your searches by eliminating other closely related material to your topic. This way you can have exactly what you need instead of tons of other material that pops up unrelated to what you are searching for.
1) If I were to create a lesson plan, I would incorporate something fun and educational at the same time. I would choose 2nd grade and the subject matter would be Earth Science. The technology I would use to create my lesson plan would be Inspiration. I would create a flow chart of the Rain cycle and Evaporation processes of the Earth. I would include pictures on the chart that my students could color. This would be very visual so my students could see the pictures and follow the arrows that connect each cycle together. This would be a visual project that would allow my students to understand and follow the cycles more easily. 2)I would critique www.wikipedia.com 3)I am not going to be a teacher but If I were I wouldn't have an issue with copyright. I would be teaching 1st or 2nd grade If I were to teach any age group. This group doesn't have to do research or papers. If they used the computer It would be for games or Paint. The technology I would incorporate would be television(movies), audio and headphones(story), and the computer for games or small activities. Students could use other sources to create their own works but, this would probably entail them to be at a higher grade level.
1) I have used technology alot throughout my educational experiences. I have used Word to write papers and save information from the internet. I could copy-paste information from the internet and print it off of word. That way I wouldn't have to print an entire article offline. I have also used Paint to create pictures and make greeting cards. LoL I have also used the internet for research and email. In college I started using Blackboard for my major and courses. I also used the computer to download music and play dvds. 2) I hope to learn more about the different functions that Word and Excel have to offer. I only know the basic functions for basic assignments for class. If I can navigate these features, then I can do more in my future using the computer! Even though I am not going to be a teacher, it is always useful to know and understand technology. No matter where you go, technology is used everywhere. Most jobs require you to understand the computer. 3) I didn't learn anything new about my learning style. I know that I have always been a "Visual" learner! I can read something but I will have to write it down and see the information. After I write the information. I can scan it and remember and understand what I am reading. I also learn by viewing things on the projector. I can hear something but, if I am shown the material I can understand it. My brain makes a connection with the material presented and the content I hear!!!!
1)I have used Ms Word a lot for many of my classes. I have been in school for a long time and every year I use Ms Word for certain projects, presentations, or papers. My teachers have used Ms Word for many purposes in the classroom. My teachers have created quizzes and tests to pass out to the students. My teachers have also created handouts and flyers. I know that my teachers have also typed up parent/teacher letters and newsletters to go home with their students. Im sure my teachers have used Ms Word more but those are just a few of the tasks that I remember. 2/3)I do not plan on being a teacher so I can not tell you what I would use in the classroom. Although, many of the features we have learned are important for me to know. Now I can utilize Ms Word more efficiently. I had always used Ms Word for simple tasks and I did not know everything It had to offer. Over the years Ms Word has expanded and provided many more tools for completing tasks. Im glad I learned how to create templates and flyers. This is a function that everyone should be familiar with. Also, Mail Merge is a great program to know about. Im sure I can use this function in my career. Im glad that I have learned how to navigate Ms Word. No matter what I do in my future Im sure I can apply the tools I have learned.
1.) I am very familiar with using Microsoft Word. I have had to use it throughout my schooling and education up until now. I am familiar with using Word to write papers for all of my classes. I use Word to save articles offline. I usually will just copy and paste an article to Word. Also, I have research papers that i will write and use Word. I will copy and paste parts of an article offline. Since, I usually don't need the entire article or journal, I can just copy the parts that I do need. I have also had to save images to word and print them to decorate posterboards. I have had projects that have required me to create poster boards. Lastly, I use Word to type up letters to my friends. This was actually a long time ago when I mailed my friends letters. Now, I just keep in touch through email. My teachers use MS Word to type up letters that they send home to us. Also, Teachers can create note pages to print out and pass out to the students. Also, most of the time Teachers create their tests using MS Word. MS Word can be used for multiple actions in the classroom. 2.) I can use MS Word for almost everything. I really like learning about the Mail Merge feature. Even though it seems complex and intimidating, it really is a good feature to use. This feature will allow me to send out the same letter to multiple people. This feature will allow me to save alot of time on the computer. I also learned how to create flyers. Kim stayed after class and showed me the feature that allows you to select Templates that are already stored into the computer. MS Word allowed me to choose a flyer that I needed to type up "Lost Dog" notices! This saved me time because what I needed typed up was already stored into the computer. Thank you KIM. 3)I believe that I can use Word alot in my future. I plan on working with multiple clients and I will need to make case notes. I will use Word to keep my case notes organized and filed. I can also use "mail merge" to address important Confidentaility request forms. This way I can send out the same form to multiple clients. I will not have to type the same letter a million times. I can just type the letter once and inclde my mailing recipients in the program to change the address and heading.
